French text.This style of books are very sought after for their decorative appeal and in this case the subject matter, condition and being a full set(25). $1100.00 683.French coat of arms from the late 19th century.The coat of arms is mounted on a blue board which helps to high lite it.The inscription reads"Valeneiennes a bien merit de la patrie". This is most likely wrong as some letters are hard to decipher. Reads"Valenciennes is proud of his country".Vilenciennes is located in north west Normandy,France. The coat of arms contains two swans(?) on either side and a lion topped off with a crown.The composition of the crest I would say it is plaster/stone. Swedish wood trencher ca.18 century.Original yellow paint on the outside.Not only is this a great bowl but it is shaped like a kidney.This tells us that it was carved from a tree root possibly a birch root.Signed on the bottom "AOS" and "LPS" which were done by an old technique of burning the name/initials. These initials would likely be the owners.
