806. One of the best Doukhobor flat weave rugs (pulose) I have ever seen
let alone to own it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was made for Peter Verigan The Lordly.
he is the head of the Doukhobor settlements. This is in exceptional
condition with frills along the sides. Came from British Columbia, Canada and would
date ca.1910. The geometric rugs around the 1910 era and the flower rugs later.
Size: 99in by 67in( 252cm by 170cm). A number of years ago I put 6 rugs on
consignment with Nancy Pooles Gallery in the high-end Yorkville district. they sold
five of them to customers that knew nothing about Doukhors.
Bought from the inventory of Michael Rowan. Note: the rug might be upside down.
