Description
Two French 17th century panels of evangelists St.John and St.Paul.St.Paul is represented with the sword.
The sword recalls his means of martrydom.He was beheaded in Rome in 67 AD. St.John, according to legend,
received a cup of poisoned wine which he drank without harming his self.Emblem of the tail, Johns chalice
symbolizes the Christen faith which prevails over death, represented by the serpent.
Both panels come from the same piece of furniture or chest. Condition is very good with one or two age
