Swedish Empire Mantle Clock.

Description

670. Swedish Empire 19th century(1810-1830)carved(wood) mantle clock. Bronzed. Flanking fable animals. Matching urns. Dial with Arabic numerals. This is the Swedish’s interpretation of the Empire 1st. period and although it is not as garish as the French Empire period the subtlety of the Swedish is what sets them apart. Size: H. 23in. W. 14in., D. 5 1/2in(58 1/2cm by 35 1/2cm by 13 1/2cm). Further info: When clock repairs are made the movement is marked by the clock maker and a date is added. Movements of this clock are dated a number of times. The earliest date is May/ 1712. The hand carved case would be ca. 1810. The movement of this clock is 30 hours. I questioned this with the repair man and he had a second look at the movement spring. He said the spring had not been shortened and that everything was intact and original.
